Custom Felt Patches

Custom felt patches use a soft, visible fabric base to support lettering, logos or layered designs. Felt letter patches can give school and casual apparel a different character from a fully thread-covered badge.

Let the felt support the artwork

Decide how much of the base should remain visible around the logo or lettering. Felt logo patches can combine a broad fabric shape with stitched detail, but very fine text may need a different material. Choose colors that separate the artwork from the base clearly.

Define the edge and layers

A cut edge, stitched outline or layered construction changes the patch footprint and feel. Include every layer in the stated overall dimensions. For custom felt badges, keep the border proportional to the design so a small emblem does not lose too much usable space.

Plan wear and care

Felt clothing patches need backing and care guidance suited to the garment. Discuss washing, rubbing and how firmly the patch must hold its shape. A decorative patch on a bag may need a different construction from a badge on a frequently washed uniform.

Questions about custom felt patches

Are felt and chenille the same?

No. Felt describes a fabric base; chenille describes a plush yarn surface. Some constructions can combine them.

Can felt patches include embroidery?

Yes. Share the balance of visible felt and stitched detail you want so the design can be prepared accordingly.
