Custom Sew-On Patches

Custom sew-on patches attach with stitching rather than an adhesive bond. They are a practical option for clothing and uniforms when the fabric can be sewn and a permanent attachment is preferred.

Leave room for the stitching

A border or suitable edge gives the installer space to secure the patch without crossing important artwork. Sew-on embroidered patches often use a defined edge; other materials may need a different sewing allowance. Confirm that the intended needle path will not damage molded detail or split a narrow outline.

Check access to the garment

Pockets, linings and insulated layers can make installation harder than it looks from the outside. For sew-on jacket patches, check whether stitching will close a pocket or pass through a lining that should remain separate. An experienced garment installer can help with difficult placements.

Choose sewing over heat or removable backing

Sew-on clothing patches do not need heat activation, which can be useful on heat-sensitive fabrics. Hook and loop is better when the patch must be exchanged regularly. Match the method to the wearer and the garment rather than treating one backing as best for every order.

Questions about custom sew-on patches

Can I sew around an iron-on patch?

Some constructions allow additional stitching, but confirm the patch edge and garment suitability first.

Are sew-on patches suitable for uniforms?

They can be. Share laundry requirements and any garment restrictions so the patch and installation method can be assessed together.
