Custom Printed Patches

Custom printed patches are a useful starting point for artwork with gradients, photographic detail or many colors. A printed face can preserve visual information that would need simplifying in stitched or molded construction.

Prepare artwork for full color patches

Send the original high-resolution image at the intended print proportions. Enlarging a small screenshot does not restore lost detail. For photo patches, crop the image deliberately and keep important faces or text away from the border. Review contrast and readability at the finished size.

Specify the print process and base

Printed patches describe a broad family of constructions. The fabric, printing method and surface finish influence the result. Custom graphic patches may use different processes depending on the artwork and end use; confirm the exact construction in your quote rather than assuming every printed patch is sublimated.

Borders, attachment and everyday care

A stitched border frames the image but occupies part of the printable area. Allow space for that edge in the artwork. Choose the backing around the garment and expected wear, then follow the supplied care instructions to protect both the print and its attachment.

Questions about custom printed patches

Are printed and sublimated patches identical?

Sublimation is one printing process. Use the sublimated page when that specific construction is required; otherwise share the artwork and discuss the appropriate method.

Can printed logo patches include gradients?

They are a suitable option to assess for gradients and tonal artwork. The proof and selected fabric help establish the expected appearance.
